It has been a long time since I have taken the time to write a post....I think about it a LOT, but at the end the day, chores, down time and sleep take over the need to get on a "screen." I also have realized that facebook has in a way taken the part of my "used to be" blog. I am working on a "system" daily to get my documenting of our family life in, and figure out the best way to journal for the future, however...I am still working on that solution. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In the meantime.....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am stopping to write this post. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The past 4 weeks have been a blessing and whirlwind in one....BUT one thing is for sure, it has all been an answer to prayer. We decided after much discussion to put our house on the market. Darrah, my cousin who is realtor, came for an initial walk through on what we needed to do to get ready, and in 2 weeks the photographers were here and we were "ready!" For 2 weeks our home showed every day except for 2. During the week process we prayed and looked, prayed and looked and looked and looked some more for a new home for us. The goal was the same size home, but land for our family to run, play, grow and learn. Jack has never lived in a neighborhood until we moved here to Royse City 7 years ago. Over the past 3 years or so, the houses have started to pop up quicker and quicker, less space to see the land behind us. He was always looking and now more than ever was looking with purpose. Looking for a place for us became his part time job. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We got word from a friend at church that a church member was going into the mission field and selling his home and land. In 4 days of him making that decision, he had 3 families stop by and show interest in his place. Located about 1.5 miles from where we live, we decided one Saturday afternoon to stop by and just take a look. The location, property and home were exactly what we needed and wanted to see. The home was built in the 80's so it needed some work, but the vision for both and Jack and I was totally there. We agreed without much discussion, that this was the place we wanted to buy. We covered our desire in prayer and had to wait. We found out 2 other people were also interested, and within 4 days of us stopping by the owner had 3 offers to choose from. The owner chose us. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The "farm" as the babies call it, is 10 acres with a 3 bedroom 2 bath home. The land includes a shop, a barn and a pond at the back of the property. The home is in Hunt County but in Royse City ISD, and is a perfect location for Jack and I's work and our activities in Royse City. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Within 3 weeks from putting our house was on the market, and got an offer. Both places close within 4 days of each other. We plan to expand the kitchen and the master bath, add a deck and an outdoor kitchen. Our babies are so excited to have animals, to grow a garden and go fishing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We are so blessed at how The Lord showed His work during this entire process. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is to many memories, fun and hard work.....at the farm.... </div>

You know you have an awesome family when you have the words "Festivus" in your invitation to attend a gathering! And, you know you have an awesome family when you have this family little cousinettes playing in a little bitty house.</div>

It just doesn't get much better than hanging with your cousins and watching all of the kids play like we used to play. Or talking to your Aunt and Uncles and laughing, well crying too. </div>

Christmas....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A reason to celebrate and remember the birth of Jesus. There is not a better place to be in fellowship with others for this celebration than our church family, The Quest. Here are the babies and I before our evening service at our Terrell campus. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
There is also nothing better than babies waking up to the "magic" of Santa. Jack and I had a fun time setting everything up and getting it all ready for when they wake up to see what Santa brought. We have a tradition that the babies open 3 presents from Jack and I. Just like Jesus was given gold, frankincense and myrrh, our babies also get 3 gifts. However, the Santa gift was a bike!</div>

Well....then there is my amazingly always happy and looking at the glass full love bug, Wyatt! He wasn't a huge fan of the bike, so instead he wanted to decorated with the paper and ribbons left from presents. Anyone that knows my son knows that this is totally him!<br />

I look forward to a Fall event in Royse City every year called Fun Fest. This small town even is held on Main Street, and is a day of food, games, vendors, music and more. For the past 6 years I have had a Mary Kay booth, but as the babies have gotten older, I have wanted to enjoy more the event than actually work the event. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This year was so fun! It was a little cooler than it has been in year past, so we had to bundle up pretty good. </div>

My babies are so lucky! Not only do they have a fun mom who takes them to the Zoo, BUT they have an amazing friend, Ginger, who loves them and even loves to go to the Zoo with them! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ginger has become a part of our family. For the best nearly 2 years, so has come on a Monday or Wednesday and been a huge help to Jack and I. She is so loving, fun and sweet to each of them, and such a treasure for them to have her in our life. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The questions really could go on and on....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Some people get it, some people have not a clue, BUT let me be the first to tell you, that stay at home Moms are a special kind. I am NOT just saying that because I stayed home, I am saying that now because as I type I have been working outside the home for the first time in almost 3.5 years. The difference for me is clear... Staying home is mentally exhausting, working outside the home is physically exhausting. Such a difference. I mean really, the instant they get up they each ask at least 50 questions and they are already at 150%, totally ready to hit the day running. They have more energy than the energizer bunny, they are quicker to destroy a room than anything you have ever seen....bottom line, they wear me out!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is when I officed from home and attempted to do Tri County Septic office work and Mary Kay. Not too much work going on here except destroying the office.</div>

I don't take back any of these memories for a second. Every day I realize the blessings I have and how grateful I am for the patience the Lord has given me. Not every day is easy and some days I have more than 1 glass of wine by 7 pm, ha, BUT staying home with my little people has been a privilege, and I would not have had it any other way!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1712080074436497107.post-27407175329800426832013-05-28T11:10:00.000-07:002013-05-28T11:10:34.644-07:00Mother's Day What a beautiful day today was!! I am so blessed to have a loving husband as well as happy, healthy, fun loving babies. I truly lived Heaven on Earth today...simply a wonderful day.<br />
<br />
Jack got up before the house started stirring and made my favorite breakfast....homemade "Jack" omelet. YUMMM! Sauteed onion and mushrooms, bacon, cheese and avocado UH-MAZING! My mom and Rick stayed the night before so we all went to church following breakfast. Service was so special and I was so happy to share the morning with my Mom. We got back home and Jack told me head to the nail salon....there was NO arguing there. I got a mani and pedi while he got everyone ready for a nap. The pampering was stellar! Not only did I get to spend a good 2 hours in the massage chair, but they were serving WINE! Pretty much a perfect pampering session. When I got home the kids had just woken up from their nap, and we decided to head to the park to feed the ducks and play outside. The weather has been SO nice the past few days. We did a lot of exploring, a lot of turtle watching and a lot of swinging....pretty much perfect. We picked up pizza on the way home and had a great dinner outside.<br />
<br />
After dinner Jack and I spent about 20 minutes just watching the triplets play and interact with each other. They are so funny with all of their little conversations....just like big people, but with cute little voices. It is so interesting the dynamics and the roles they play. There are times when Abigail acts like the mother and is really bossy, and then other times when Jessy plays that role. Wyatt usually just goes along with what they do, but it is so funny to see how both of them are little "mothers" to him. He however always has the new and "better" ideas, and the girls usually aren't opposed to them. They also find the most interesting items to play with...no reason for toys really, they are happy with swimming pool tubing, buckets, cups...the list could go on and on.<br />
<br />
I am truly grateful for this day, so amazed by the love I have for my Mother, and the love I feel for my babies as their mother. I feel blessed and honored daily.<br />

They were really excited for me to have breakfast with them, and I felt the same way. We had some orange juice, several cinnamon rolls and I think Wyatt had a muffin or two. ;)<br />

You know it's really amazing how quickly we are reminded of how precious life truly is. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In November I went in for my yearly appointment with my amazing OB, Dr. Romberg. The results came back abnormal, which isn't always something to be concerned about. I went in again for another check and again, it came back abnormal. In December I was scheduled for a colposcopy which was an in office procedure that basically took away the area that showed abnormal cells. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The procedure showed severe abnormal cells still again and the severity was worse that expected, pre-cancerous cells, therefore scheduling me for what is called a "cone" procedure. This procedure is an extensive biopsy of the area, a day surgery to remove the cancerous cells. It would also give my doctor an idea of how severe the pre-cancerous cells. I went in early January and was so blessed with the help of my mom, dad and step parents with the triplets. The hope was that after 6 weeks of recovery from the "cone" procedure, I would have a CTScan and that the cancer would be gone. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The results however showed, stage 1 cervical cancer. I remember my doctor calling me. I was in my kitchen with my grandmother. My babies were at Mother's Day Out, Mimi and I were recovering chairs in my dining room. My phone rang, and it was my doctor's cell phone. She explained all the details and what would happen next. I would need to recover and heal from the cone procedure and then have tests following. That would be the only way to get a clear idea of the cell activity and make for certain there was nothing else after the area have been removed. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here I am with 2 of my loves, resting and snuggling. They totally understood that momma had a "boo boo."</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGk_pQ1gWQXWpvFYBYMLfjIkdT04xTmj_iHUlvvu7kJbeIfsJSiG0ONwocVowms9-eTz4bHlv6FVJw3PtdNNxBIcxJuxSG45ZqVfTtl5Ts0DvQ9QsLVx78ynHqMUZ6PrivkztgIfx-6gie/s1600/IMG_3020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGk_pQ1gWQXWpvFYBYMLfjIkdT04xTmj_iHUlvvu7kJbeIfsJSiG0ONwocVowms9-eTz4bHlv6FVJw3PtdNNxBIcxJuxSG45ZqVfTtl5Ts0DvQ9QsLVx78ynHqMUZ6PrivkztgIfx-6gie/s320/IMG_3020.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
With much prayer and support, I had to wait. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There was a small set back however at about week 2. I came down with a small cold. I started coughing and just not feeling great. I dropped the kids off to school and carried on with my normal routine. I went to the bathroom and noticed an abnormal amount of blood, possibly coming from the surgery site. I called my doctor immediately and they told me to come into the office. Jack came home to drive me, I was loosing too much blood to even drive myself. Our dear friend Kathy came over to take care of the kids while we rushed to the doctors office. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I won't go into too many details, but the bottom line was that after about 3 times trying to pack my inside, not asleep mind you, they were not able to stop the bleeding. I was admitted into the Baylor that evening. The goal was to try to stop the bleeding and heal from there, however after almost 72 hours, and the condition not changing, Dr. Romberg had to stitch up the area again. I had coughed so hard at some point, that a stitch loosened. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Let me just tell you this was when the line "for better or for worse, in sickness and in health" really shows its true colors. If it would not have been for my amazing husband Jack, I would NOT have made it thru the pain and suffering of the past 72 hours. He squeezed my hand when I was in pain, he helped me stay dry and clean, he made sure I was comfortable, and just did whatever he could to make sure I was taken care of. I am so grateful for all he did for me. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was released from the hospital the day following the 2nd procedure and had to take it EASY again really had to heal. I am so grateful that my Dad and Denise were able to take the babies to East Texas for a week so I could recover. This gave me the time I truly needed to heal and stay healed. I had to wait another 6 weeks tho to check to see if the cancer was still there. The waiting game...agian....</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After 6 weeks I was scheduled for a CTScan to see if the cancer had spread. Jack and I went in early one morning and were placed in a room. I had to drink this radioactive "smoothie" and digest for close to 2 hours before the scan was performed. It did not taste good at all! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBWE7ty-SmryTwY9Q-L_V1QqYeWH5Lq2xjpDDSa5W9rx-tT1w4g_H1WLxJ2nlsfedER9o_5sAazknroc2SW6iFEHCJ-HlQwce7BCnestNmHz88L8LC6PA2bfir6XO8GGPnPLJ9quE_BtA6/s1600/IMG_3205.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBWE7ty-SmryTwY9Q-L_V1QqYeWH5Lq2xjpDDSa5W9rx-tT1w4g_H1WLxJ2nlsfedER9o_5sAazknroc2SW6iFEHCJ-HlQwce7BCnestNmHz88L8LC6PA2bfir6XO8GGPnPLJ9quE_BtA6/s320/IMG_3205.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
The scan came back clear. The cancer had NOT spread and did not show any signs of existence. The cone procedure had worked and gotten the amount that was cancerous. A hysterectomy was scheduled. I was so fortunate that Dr. Romberg has a partner who is knowledgeable in the robotics hysterectomy procedure. This would allow for minimal invasive surgery that would actually only take about 1-2 weeks to heal, and close to 4 weeks for full recovery. For a momma with triplets, this was something that was a great option! It was somewhat of a<br />
<br />
Dad and Denise offered to watch the babies again for a week while I recovered from surgery. I went in early on a spring morning and for the 3rd time was put under, with hope that this would be the very last time.<br />
<br />
It took about 3-4 weeks for full recovery, but I was able to do things with my family and around the house after about 2 weeks.<br />
<br />
Here are some pictures I took while I was recovering....<br />

My babies knew their Momma was sick, but weren't exactly sure what was going on. I am SO grateful for a faithful Father, a smart doctor, a loving family and supportive church. Every year my Uncle Kelly and cousin Jill are friendly clowns in the Children's Christmas parade in downtown Dallas. Last year was so fun to take the triplets and watch them with their wide eyes as floats pass by, however this year not only were they enthralled with all the sights, but had something to say about EVERYTHING! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This picture was captured, somehow, of all babies looking at the camera and looking happy! Chrystel was so sweet to meet us for a photo session, and I am grateful for the amazing images. More to come in your Christmas card, you're going to have to wait. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The Christmas tree is up, the babies are excited and "Santa is watching!" Everyday Wyatt is wondering when Santa will be here. We have talked about Jesus' birthday and remind them this is why we celebrate, but they are pretty excited about seeing Santa at the upcoming Christmas parade. I'm sure the next 4 will be pretty exhausting reminding them Santa isn't here quite yet. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br />Tis the season for fun, family and daily reminder of the birth of our King!</div>

If there is one thing I hope our children know and understand, are the sacrifices their Daddy made for our freedom. It is not without much pain, sadness and hardship that he left the states 3 different times to serve over seas. I am so grateful he went into the military, otherwise our paths may never have crossed, but the serving, waiting and worrying I think aged us both many years. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We have a wooden trunk in our home that is filled with memories from his Iraq tours. This Veteran's day however, I was determined to complete a scrapbook I had started many years ago highlighting certain pictures of his brothers in the Marines, along with newspaper clippings, letters and mementos of his military journey. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was excited the babies were interested to see the pictures and know what was going on. </div>

One day I pray that our babies understand what their Daddy had to endure. That he truly is a Hero!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1712080074436497107.post-5095127675893341692012-11-03T20:21:00.000-07:002013-05-12T20:24:08.808-07:00It's Fall Ya'll...<br />
Well it's fall in Texas...what does that mean!?!? Well as far as weather goes, it means one day it is 80 degrees and the next day it's 40. It has been more challenging this year for me to know how to dress my kids for the day! Fall means pumpkins, hay rides, leaves falling and even better, a ton of fun things to do on Royse City Main Street.<br />
<br />
This year we attended the Grand Opening of the Pumpkin Patch on Main Street. There were pony rides, face painting and great photo opportunities.<br />

This year we decided to go with the "Three Little Monkey" theme. They LOVE Curious George and were not opposed to the costumes so I went with it. <span style="text-align: start;">The babies did a great job getting their costumes on. We really only did 1 trial run with the costumes so I was pretty pleased with their cooperation. Happy 1st Birthday Layla Rose...your Aunt Sissy loves you! This precious angel is the happiest baby I know! She is so even tempered, so laid back and just a blast to spend time with. The triplets and I had a great time celebrating with everyone on her big day. </div>

What a blessing to attend all my babies school functions. I truly feel so lucky to experience all of these fun milestones! This was the babies FIRST school "party." Instead of dressing the up in their monkey costumes, the ones they will wear for Halloween, I thought what better than their favorites ELMO! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When I arrived they were finishing up a spooky spider craft. I was amazed at how well they were all sitting there paying attention and following instructions. </div>

We are so blessed to have such amazing friends in our life. Our Church family has helped from the very beginning, and truly is the definition and meaning of "it takes a village." One of the most special families in our lives are the Berry's; Jeff, Lezlee, Madi and Lawton. From the very beginning of the triplet pregnancy, the Berry's have played an instrumental part of our ups and downs, through it all. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
They have a recent love for pigs! They have been involved through FFA in Royse City, and have raised, cared for, loved on and showed pigs for Royse City ISD. On this certain day, it was just too beautiful not to be out and meet the pigs. Of course the babies LOVED it and were so excited! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here are Lawton and Wyatt getting close enough to "pet" the little piggies...</div>

Our family loves the outdoors, and mostly because the Daddy loves the outdoors. I give him full credit on the passion the babies have to be outside. I can't wait until we have camping trips, road trips, camp fires and more with my amazing little family. I captured this image while were out exploring at Sabine Creek Ranch.<br />

It is quite the task, quite the challenge and even more the joy. It is truly amazing how fast they are learning, how much they pick up, and how much they wear me out!!!! They are SUPER active and more independent. They play together well, but just like normal siblings, get on each others nerves. People ask me often if they pair up or play with someone over another. The answer is yes, but it changes by the day. Sometimes 2 will pair up and the 3rd will play alone, and the next day it will switch around.<br />
<br />
Here we are in the waiting room at the doctors office for their check up...<br />

NO shots at this appointment, YEAH!! They are all growing strong and developing well. They still have really bad allergies, but other than that there is nothing medically an issue. WOW I am one lucky MoM. This is a daily summer activity around the Self household. We love our pool and love being outside this time of year. It may be 110 outside, but Daddy will bring home 10 bags of ice and we get the pool cool again. Super fabulous memories with my little swimming babies.<br />
<br />
We also love to go to Grammy's house and swim too! She has a hot tub, so it is a perfect size for the babes. Let me tell you these kids are FISH. We have taken swim lessons and that has really helped their confidence and skill. I can't imagine how much they will learn next summer!<br />

Another perk over the summers are visitors! We also had a great summer visit with the Fite family, Ava, George and Katie. The triplets LOVE Ava and George, and when we get together we always have a great time. This summer we had a chance to play at the splash park in Royse City and picnic afterwards.<br />

One of the big events that took place this month was sending the babies to Mother’s Day Out. Jack and I had them registered for the Fall, however when I found out there were 3 spots available for the summer…we had quick conversation and both agreed we were ready! It would give me 10 hours a week to work, get house chores actually complete and take some stress off of me. I am grateful for the means to be able to send them to First Baptist Church here in Royse City. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span><span style="background-color: white;">Because I was unsure how the whole nap time would work, we practiced the day before with out nap mats. Um....they LOVED them!</span><br />

And then, here are my angel babies. Excuse me, when did they get to be like little people exactly? I have NO idea where the time went. Mimi was there to help get them ready to be there by 9 and Jack met us at the Church. Here is their first "school" picture.<br />

I came home after dropping them off and was not quite sure to do with myself. It was quiet and still....however, I quickly snapped out of that stillness and got to work around the house and in the office. The time they are at MDO has really helped my stress, and even better the babies have already learned SO much. They were excited when I picked them up at 2 pm that day!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1712080074436497107.post-2741690103501691452012-06-19T18:08:00.000-07:002012-11-09T21:10:04.481-08:00Father's Day 2012<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We celebrated Father’s Day weekend at Lone Star lake with my Dad, Denise, Jamie, Erin and Layla. While I have to say getting there was quite the challenge, once we were there, it was fun and we had a great time. I'll spare the details, but let's just say 2 trailor tires later we got there, with 3 potty training triplets. We were ready for some lake time! You can just see the misery getting there in Abigail's face here below.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-dhgrmVPtgrDdlPVPRG3cR7YQlxsVaE5CoFjSDy_2jSZwHdQ9gn52NPuvsAWOYXGsrcY1ZoZ3fGmaih1ZfUc1Ny8d8448rYBS492qHzzcSOcJBIGo8JrbDzqnGo4ZCRUnKMSJEzq_5WZ2/s1600/IMG_1616.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-dhgrmVPtgrDdlPVPRG3cR7YQlxsVaE5CoFjSDy_2jSZwHdQ9gn52NPuvsAWOYXGsrcY1ZoZ3fGmaih1ZfUc1Ny8d8448rYBS492qHzzcSOcJBIGo8JrbDzqnGo4ZCRUnKMSJEzq_5WZ2/s320/IMG_1616.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
Once we arrived we set up our "camp" we had a good time. It is so much fun taking the babies to new and different places, but it is NOT relaxing and a ton of work. We never know how they will eat or sleep, so it makes it a little more of a challenge. However, we can't just not go and do, so with a few extra drinks, Jack and I manage. Of course our family is awesome in helping too, the extra hands are for sure a plus!<br />
<br />
This was the first time the babies had been the lake water. It was a little scary, because they love the water and have no fear. Abigail and I are ready for the boat ride...<br />

I volunteered to watch my sweet niece Layla Rose one Friday night so Jamie and Erin could go out of town for the weekend. The babies LOVE Layla, and I figured...what's one more. She is a super happy, sweet and easy baby. We had a great time and the girls enjoyed sharing all their toys and babies with her. Here is a quick pic for breakfast. Wyatt is still fast asleep...imagine that!?!? </div>

I knew I might get 1 consistent volunteer, but what about baby #3.<br />
<br />
My Aunt Sally (Aunt Sassy) has a family friend, Sue, who has been teaching swimming lessons for over 40 years, and she suggested I speak with here about the possibility of doing lessons. So, I contact Sue this spring and we scheduled lessons the week of Memorial Day. That meant also, we would spend the week at Aunt Sassy and Uncle Jimmy's house.<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;">
<br />
It was kinda like a stay-cation, and mixed up the days a little for us. The babies LOVED the new place and had a blast swimming, playing with their cousins, chasing the cat and trying to pet the dog. MOST of all they LOVED swim lessons.<br />

Another day we headed to Costco with Aunt Sassy and then had yummy yogurt at a fabulous place called Yogurt Land. The babies really enjoyed their cold dessert.</div>

By Thursday, on Day 4 of swim lessons, the babies were very comfortable in the water. They could put their heads under and hold their breathe for a short amount of time and even could wiggle "swim" their way to the side. I personally learned a ton on training and working with them and know with consistent work this summer they will only improve.<br />
<br />
I enjoyed spending time with my Aunt and Uncle in their beautiful home, seeing my cousins and cousinettes and making summer memories that will last forever!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1712080074436497107.post-45483943806145470952012-05-30T18:05:00.000-07:002012-10-06T21:31:20.169-07:00Potty Training a TRIO<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">
Well I have dreaded this day! Not because I didn’t think they were ready, but honestly because of the “inconvenience” it would be for me and our daily routine. I knew they would be potty-ing 24/7 for several days and who knew how long it would take for them to get the hang of it. I had been mentally pre-planning for quite some time. I had a “head game plan” going on and played it over and over until I felt confident that it would work. And, let’s just be honest….that is what I do ALL the time with the trips. If we have event, or an outing, or something unusual that we haven’t done before, then I do that...crazy I know, but it helps me think of different scenarios and what we may encounter.</div>

<br />
So the biggest encouragement was my triplet mom friend, Angela Tew. She has triplet boys who are about 7 months older than my babies. She is always a great resource and kind of like our "Fairy Godmother" of our <a href="https://www.facebook.com/amandaself423#!/pages/Royse-City-Area-Mothers-of-Multiples/151950838192886" target="_blank">Royse City Area Mothers of Multiples Group</a>. I also used a resource from a friend I have been on a few outings with who has quads. Her blog, <a href="http://coxquads.blogspot.com/2011/11/potty-training-scoop.html" target="_blank">Cox Quads</a>, was a big help in getting things organized. <br />
<br />
We started off in the bathroom, a mistake, I'll explain later. Luckily I had our friend Ginger here all day to help me with the process. We gave them stickers for successful pee-pee'ing in the potty and went at least every 15 minutes. Here was the original set up. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well....this is what happened. We have gate that separates the living room and the entry way. Then entry way leads to the hall, and then to the bathroom....and of course all the rooms. Well, we we cross the gate I lose all control. They may, or may not go to the bathroom, instead will run and hide, grab things in the office...anything to "play," when they are supposed to be potty-ing. Well...after a HORRIBLE 1st day, I talked to Angela and she suggested to put the potties in the living room. I was not excited about it at all towards the beginning, but she insisted it would make my life easier and that they would not associate the living room with potty-ing. That was my biggest fear.... Well...she was right! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After taking potties inside and outside...</div>

Spending many hours outside naked, or inside barely clothed for that matter....<br />

We reached a point of success, and while we still have accidents from time to time, these smart babies picked it up quickly and are doing great. Potties are in the living room, a perfect distance away for an "emergency," and I am pleased with the success they are having. <br />
<br />
Now, don't think it's all that and smooth sailing....<br />
From time to time, we have to read...some things take awhile....<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We carry a potty with us at all times and make sure to go before we get out of the car for an outing. It is MUCH easier to go on a traveling potty than it is to stop at a gas station and unload all three, or take them to a bathroom in a restaurant. This is especially important if I am out with them alone. They are still wearing diapers at nap time and bed time, and not sure exactly when and how we will transition there, but I am not ready yet because we still have crib tents on the baby beds to keep them in. I do know that for my kids, wearing pull-ups were confusing to them, they weren't sure if it was a diaper or panties. I opted to not use a pull-up while potty training. Of course I had more mess to clean, but I think overall it helped them "get it."</div>

Good times, and just one more milestone in this thing called parenthood! Thanks to all those people in our life who have provided such great support and advice!</div>
